DfT RELEASE THEIR RESPONSE TO THE CONSULATION

17-Nov-2010: The DfT have released their response and summary of the Electric Personal Vehicle (EPV) consultation, conducted earlier this year. Despite lots of positivie findings, the DfT have decided to make no immediate recommendations or proposals that change their current position on "self-balancing scooters" (link). This is hugely disappointing, however the many positive findings provide a useful insight into perceptions across the country.

05-Jan-2010: The DfT have released the Electric Personal Vehicle (EPV) consultation. The consultation seeks public views on whether the law should be changed so as to permit small electric personal vehicles, non-compliant with existing road traffic law, to be used on the vehicular carriageway of public roads and/or on cycle tracks. This includes (but is not limited to) Segway Personal Transporters.

Pre-ticked - This version contains the boxes you would want to tick if you support the use of Segway PTs on roadways and cycle lanes (treating a Segway PT essentially as if it were a bicycle). If you hold this view, download this "pre-ticked" version, in which you simply need to add your name and address to it, before sending it to the address noted below. Feel free to amend/add your own comments, etc.
