UK Public Consultation for SegwaysElectric Personal Vehicles (EPVs)CONSULATION NOW CLOSED DfT RELEASE THEIR RESPONSE TO THE CONSULATION 17-Nov-2010: The DfT have released their response and summary of the Electric Personal Vehicle (EPV) consultation, conducted earlier this year. Despite lots of positivie findings, the DfT have decided to make no immediate recommendations or proposals that change their current position on "self-balancing scooters" (link). This is hugely disappointing, however the many positive findings provide a useful insight into perceptions across the country. The consultation seeks public views on whether the law should be changed so as to permit small electric personal vehicles, non-compliant with existing road traffic law, to be used on the vehicular carriageway of public roads and/or on cycle tracks. This includes (but is not limited to) Segway Personal Transporters.
